WHERE DO YOUR FLOWERS COME FROM BEFORE
YOU RECEIVE THEM ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Your flowers originate from the growers, whom use chemicals, they ship the flowers to the wholesale/distributor, whom use chemicals, then they are shipped to the florist, whom use chemicals, which are then made into the arrangements you desire.
Before your Preservationist receives these flowers it could be another 1-3 days. By shipping your flowers yet one more time, the potential damage to the flowers has increased. Flowers can be bruised, even by plastic bags, and the damage will show up on the flowers after the preservation process such as creases on the petals. Depending on the flower, damaged outer petals can be removed, such as roses, but only so many can be taken off without ruining the total look of the flower. This is why Forever In Bloom, Inc., will not do the shipping process to receive an order. Not only damage to the flowers through shipping is possible but irreplaceable keepsakes maybe lost. We always recommend a local company for your floral preservation needs. We have had some clients whom have hand carried the bouquets to us from out of state. Call for more information.
Forever In Bloom, Inc uses a silica process. Our designers take each bouquet apart, and then preserve each flower by hand. This allows us to reform the petals, even though they are not as fresh. Although a preservationist can rehydrate your flowers to a certain point, some flowers may not be in good enough condition to do this process. This is why we do each flower by hand; it gives us the ability to enhance the look of each flower.
After the expense of purchasing the flowers for your special day, make sure they get the proper care for lasting memories.
Care of the flowers
Check with your florist for information on how your bouquet will be assembled.
Plastic holder (oasis in center)
The oasis is a spongy material which holds water. Make sure the florist will leave some of the stem of the flower on to be inserted into the oasis for a water source.
Cut stems/hand held bouquets
Make sure the stems are not replaced by wire - flowers need a source of water. Ask if the stems will be wrapped completely with ribbon or just where you will hold the bouquet?
Were you measured for your bouquet? What size will it be? Your height, shape of your dress and what
type of heel you will be wearing will determine the size
of your bouquet.
These are some of the questions that we will ask you when placing your order.
Note, there are some flowers that will not have stems long enough to put into a bouquet without wire. Gardenias and stephanotis are examples.
Hints for the bride:
Some brides are very nervous when its time to go down the aisle, your flowers could be crushed by holding the bouquet tightly to your body.
You will be hugged on your special day, keep in mind to hold your flowers out to the side if someone comes towards you, otherwise it will be your guest with you and the flowers in between.
Have a vase at the reception for your flowers. Fill it with water if you are having cut stems, and place your bouquet in the vase of water. Note that completely wrapped stems may result with water stains on the ribbon, but the water will still be able to get to the stems.
For bouquets with plastic holders, place the handle into a vase (without water) to keep the flowers upright. Laying your flowers flat on the table will not only crush the flowers but we have actually seen wedding cake on the bouquet.
After the reception take the vase of flowers and place into a full size refrigerator if at all possible (do not use mini fridges). Call us for information if you do not have proper refrigeration.
If your groom’s boutonniere is important for you to have preserved, we suggest that you order an extra one. By the time he goes through the receiving line and dancing, these flowers are usually crushed. Check with your florist, some will give an extra boutonniere for the groom at no charge. Place his flower into a plastic baggie large enough to hold the flower without pressure from the bag on the flower and then refrigerate.
Do not spray water on the flowers, they could become moldy, and check the oasis for moisture if you carry a plastic holder. Take one flower out to add the water, and replace the flower.
For best results, the flowers need to be preserved no more than 2-3 days after the event.
